kardishJosh Kardisch

Josh was KLG’s and its predecessor firm’s senior trial attorney and managing partner between 1996 and 2016.  He is now Of Counsel to Russo & Toner, LLP, and will continue to litigate personal injury matters involving defective products, toxic substances, faulty sidewalks/roadways, motor vehicles and animal attacks; claims of workplace discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, disability, pregnancy, whistle-blower status & retaliation and sexual harassment; complex insurance issues, and; disputes between business entities.

Regardless of which side he is representing, Josh has tremendous respect for his clients’ concerns and he is tireless in his pursuit of their goals.  Josh has been representing individuals and businesses before State and Federal courts and administrative agencies nationwide for 30 years.  He prides himself in being honest from the start about likely outcomes and case value and he revisits these issues with the client frequently throughout the representation.

Josh also advises clients on proper workplace practices and programs designed to curtail litigation and he negotiates and prepares many types of business-related documents, such as employment handbooks, severance packages, non-compete clauses/restrictive covenants and partnership dissolution agreements.

Between 1985 and 1996, Josh was an associate and a partner at Rivkin Radler & Kremer, a highly reputable national firm, where he handled pesticide, lead and asbestos exposure, environmental, product liability, insurance, commercial and labor law litigation at the trial and appellate levels for small through Fortune 500 companies. He also coordinated activity of local counsel throughout the United States and participated in the firm’s administration as a member of the Hiring Committee. Josh founded and was a name partner in a general practice firm between 1996 and 2002. He has lectured, been interviewed, and has published more than 40 articles in his areas of concentration, and is a member of the International Product Safety & Liability Prevention Association and the Nassau County Bar Association Speaker’s Bureau and Labor and Employment Committee.

Josh Kardisch graduated from the Boston University School of Law in 1984.  As a student, he focused on oral advocacy and product liability law.  He also participated in an internship program with Greater Boston Legal Services assisting the indigent community with a variety of legal issues.

Josh is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of New York and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Of all the cases he has handled, one clearly stands out.  Josh went to court for a nine year-old boy whose stepmother replaced herself as beneficiary on the life insurance policy that his dying father had procured.  Her illicit act threatened to rob the child of $750,000 in proceeds, the sum total of his father’s assets.  Josh convinced the court through medical records and testimony that the father could not have consented to the beneficiary change and that the defendant had abused her power of attorney.  As a result, the court ordered the money to be placed in trust for KLG’s client. “And now, this young man, an excellent student, is able to attend a top-flight private university completely debt-free, just what his dad had wanted for him,” Josh says proudly, “and that was a most rewarding achievement for me.”
