Josh also advises clients on proper workplace practices and programs designed to curtail litigation and he negotiates and prepares many types of business-related documents, such as employment handbooks, severance packages, non-compete clauses/restrictive covenants and partnership dissolution agreements.
Between 1985 and 1996, Josh was an associate and a partner at Rivkin Radler & Kremer, a highly reputable national firm, where he handled pesticide, lead and asbestos exposure, environmental, product liability, insurance, commercial and labor law litigation at the trial and appellate levels for small through Fortune 500 companies. Josh Kardisch graduated from the Boston University School of Law in 1984. As a student, he focused on oral advocacy and product liability law. He also participated in an internship program with Greater Boston Legal Services assisting the indigent community with a variety of legal issues.
Josh is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of New York and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Of all the cases he has handled, one clearly stands out. Josh went to court for a nine year-old boy whose stepmother replaced herself as beneficiary on the life insurance policy that his dying father had procured. Her illicit act threatened to rob the child of $750,000 in proceeds, the sum total of his father’s assets. Josh convinced the court through medical records and testimony that the father could not have consented to the beneficiary change and that the defendant had abused her power of attorney. As a result, the court ordered the money to be placed in trust for KLG’s client. “And now, this young man, an excellent student, is able to attend a top-flight private university completely debt-free, just what his dad had wanted for him,” Josh says proudly, “and that was a most rewarding achievement for me.”
